Restarting and Relocating...

I have obviously discontinued blogging here. Actually, I took a few years off from blogging and from being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator due to life's curve balls. Now I am getting restarted with a new blog (and will soon be rejoining Stampin' Up! too). Due to some things I've read in my research prior to beginning again, I have migrated to:

https.givvmistamps.wordpress.com

I would be very pleased to welcome all former followers of this blog at my new one! Please come on over and let me know you're a former follower who will be reading my new blog. Thanks.

Trying again...

Okay, I'm not doing as well at this blogging effort as I'd hoped! Here's a quickie update, and I'll try to get back SOON to post more:

Sale-a-Bration ends in just a few days, at the end of March. If you want to get some free stuff with every $50 you spend, please let me know or shop my online site and store A.S.A.P.!

As they did last year, Stampin' Up! is getting ready to temporarily release sneak-preview products from the upcoming 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog for April only. (The IBC comes out July 1st.) The name of this promotion is "Spring is Blossoming," and they have selected two GORGEOUS products for you!!! Hostesses of workshops in April will have the opportunity to get these two products FREE when their workshops reach the $300 sales mark, and customers will be able to purchase these items when they place a $20 order (before the ordering of the Spring is Blossoming items). I may have a sample or two I can show you before the 1st, but can't promise that...More details will be available on that promotion at my online site and store on April 1st!

Also, Stampin' Up! is going to be including two new products in the Summer Mini Catalog (coming out May 1st), which will help raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Of course, this is very important research, and I'm so glad they're adding this fundraiser to what they're already offering in the annual IBC in support of the Ronald McDonald House. Hopefully this BCRF fundraiser will become an annual event for SU! I LOVE the stamp set, so I will soon be posting some sample projects using that. (The other product is a beautiful digital kit to use with My Digital Studio, a digital scrapbooking and card making program.)

Yes, I HAVE seen the Summer Mini, and I'm VERY excited about what's coming! Beach, nautical (think masculine and patriotic colors), and floral themes abound in this catalog, as well as some VERY cool new punches. I'm going to place my preview order in just a few days, so will be working on (then posting photos of) samples from that by the middle of the month.

Finally, I had the opportunity to attend the Orlando Regional Event for demonstrators. There were some fantastic women there, presenting ideas on how to make my workshops better, giving some WOW project presentations, and generally psyching me up to share more with my friends/customers. I even got to hear Shelli Gardner (CEO and Co-Founder of Stampin' Up!) speak about the company and products, and she showed us some beautiful, easy projects she'd made for Easter which didn't look near as simple as they are!

I must say that this Regional has changed the way I think about projects in general and workshops in particular. I am planning to change up the way I present things at my technique classes, and especially the hosted workshops, starting in April. I just know that it will make things more enjoyable for my friends/customers.

Occasions and Sale-a-Bration!

The winter and spring brings about the Occasions Mini Catalog sales period with Stampin' Up!, which runs January 4 through April 30. This year, there are some absolutely adorable stamp sets, designer papers, ribbons, and more. Also, Stampin' Up! has continued offering Designer Fabrics, two sets to match two of the Occasions paper sets! I plan to make myself a ragbag style pocketbook with the Springtime Vintage set, it's so cute! When I get that finished, I'll post a photo, I promise. ;)

Every year, Stampin' Up does an event called Sale-a-Bration. It's a time when customers get rewarded, even when they don't host a workshop or spend over $150, just for being customers. The deal is, for every $50 (retail) you spend, you get to choose one item out of the Sale-a-Bration booklet. There are eight great limited-time offerings, and a generous list in the back of the booklet of many stamp sets that are in the Idea Book and Catalog you can choose from as your Sale-a-Bration free gifts as well. Hostesses also get an extra set for every $300 in sales their workshops bring in. Sale-a-Bration continues until March 31st, so check out what you can earn in free products.

As always, please contact me with any questions, to schedule a one-on-one consultation, or to schedule a workshop of your own!

Note: all catalog links in this post are to PDF versions of the mentioned catalogs. If you'd like to view the products online instead, visit my Stampin' Up! Site and Store here.

After a long break, here's the latest...

After a long break from blogging, during which I took my blog offline, I'm back to it! My purpose from now on is to keep you informed on current Stampin' Up! promotions as well as class schedules and class projects. My hope is to have photos available for class projects at least a week before the event.

In the very near future, I will be writing about the current promotions, which include the Occasions Mini Catalog (January 4 - April 30) and the annual Sale-a-Bration promotion (January 25 - March 31). You can see details now by downloading the PDF of both catalogs to the right of this page, or click on the "Shop Now" catalog photo at the top right, just below the calendar.

Also, if you would like to see products and/or projects from Stampin' Up! but my current schedule does not fit your needs, please contact me via my Stampin' Up! site and store (contact info and link are on the top right of the site) and we can arrange a one-on-one visit when I can show you!

Your input on my projects is appreciated, especially from those of you who are my clients and have requests or suggestions on these and future projects!!!

Today's classes are at 10am and 6:30pm, so it's a bit late to post previews, but here's the plan anyway: The theme is Friends, Flowers and Chocolate. We will be making the cards in the photos, but not the bud vase in the first photo.

Friends and Flowers*:
*Card made using Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper, Friends Never Fade Stamp Set, Pear Pizzaz 1/2 Inch Stitched-Poly Ribbon, Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, and Pumpkin Pie Cardstock, and Pear Pizzazz ink. *Bud vase wrapper made with Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper, Pear Pizzazz 1/2 Inch Sticthed-Poly Ribbon and Pumpkin Pie 1/4 Inch Grosgrain Ribbon.

Friends and Chocolate:
*Made using Pink Pirouette and Chocolate Chip Cardstock, Eat Chocolate Stamp Set, Big Shot, Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, 1-3/4 Inch Circle Punch, 2-3/8 Inch Scallop Circle Punch, 1/16th Inch Handheld Circle Punch and Early Espresso 1/4 Inch Grosgrain Ribbon.

Mark your calendars for the 3rd Mondays and Oct. 9th

Boy am I behind on my blogging! Well, here's the latest...

I have begun offering two monthly Stampin' Classes in my classroom/studio on the third Mondays of each month. One is at 10am (this one will only be offered during the school year), the other at 6:30pm. The projects for each month will be the same for both classes. Each class will include two projects, and the fee is $5, or free with a $50 or greater purchase out of the catalogs.

In addition to the card classes, on October 9th, my networking group will hold a Holiday Gift Fair in the Fellowship Hall at Bethel United Methodist Church at 4843 S US Hwy 441, Lake City, FL 32025. This event will benefit the Child Advocacy Center of Lake City, FL. We are all very excited to be supporting this very important community resource and hope you will come out to help us. There will be at least 10 vendors (including myself) at the Fair offering a raffle item and gift items for sale, plus chef Gerald Hoyt of My Personal Chef will be offering box lunches for sale.

If you have questions about my Stampin' Classes or the Holiday Gift Fair, or would like to know more about Stampin' Up! and/or hosting an event, feel free to contact me today!

Carryover Stamp Sets

Sometimes Stampin' Up!™ doesn't have enough room in their publications for all the wonderful things they have on sale. Because of this, they make up special fliers we Demonstrators can make available for customers so they can see images of these stamp sets. Below is a link to a PDF file which will allow you to see some stamps that are not in the current catalog but are still for sale. Just click on the link below the image to download it.

To download this flyer, click here.

These are not the only unpublished items still for sale. If you'd like me to email you another flier which was available in April, please contact me and I will email you that file.

Multi-vendor event!

Card CASEd from Mary N. Davidson's design

Next week I will be participating in a multi-vendor event at Schatzi's here in town. I wanted to share the card I'll be demonstrating at that event. 2010-2011 Catalogs are here!!!

Hi all. I've just put up photos and links to the new catalogs on the sidebar. I'm so excited about all the changes that are happening at Stampin' Up! and I hope you'll take time to browse these catalogs to see what I mean. The new color collections are trendy and versatile, the stamp sets are adorable, and the new designer papers and scrapbooking sets are so fun I can't wait to work with them! I'm also looking forward to using some of the Decor Elements in my new home, both in the studio and in my living room (just to start with).

FYI, there's a multi-vendor event coming up at Schatzi's, located at 488 N Marion Ave, Lake City, FL 32055. I will be doing a Stampin' Up! make-&-take, while my friend Lisa Ayers will be doing a Dove Chocolate Discoveries chocolate tasting at the "bar". More information will be upcoming in the near future...

June News

I'm back! I'm sorry to report it's taken me longer than I would have liked to get things moving to the point where I can safely say I'm ready for business. We've had some familial issues here which needed to be dealt with, but now things are getting on track and I'm ready to get going!

First of all, I wanted to let you know that Stampin' Up! is getting ready for a change in it's main catalog, the Idea Book and Catalog, to change over to a new publication. What that means is, the 2009-2010 IB&C is getting ready to be stored on your idea shelves on June 30th, and a new catalog will be available for purchase on July 1st. The 2009-2010 Definitely Decorative catalog will also be transitioning to a 2010-2011 selling year as well. Look here or on my store site on July 1st for links to PDFs of the new catalogs!

Many items are being retired as of June 30th. If you're interested in seeing what those are, "Last Chance Lists" are available under the tab near the top of the page entitled "Promotions" on my store website which refer to item name, item number, and the catalog/page where they can be found. You can order anything through me by clicking on the "Shop Now" button, or by getting in contact with me via my phone number and/or email address, available on that website.

Stampin' Up! is doing a "Color Renovation!" After doing some extensive research into the current trends, Stampin' Up! has determined that they need to make some major changes to their color offerings. In many ways they are simplifying things by offering more neutrals, making neutrals one of the four main color groups available, and reducing the number of colors in each main color group from 12 to 10. A side benefit of this change is that buying a complete set of stamp pads or markers will cost a little bit less. Admittedly, there are a lot of very pretty colors being retired, and for some people that will be problematic in getting their sets of pads, markers, etc updated. However, I have to say that I am personally VERY excited about the new colors!!! Look below for documents showing the colors being retired and the new color collections (and if you'd like PDFs of the below documents, please email me and I'll be happy to forward them to you!):

We're moving!

You may be wondering why I haven't been posting anything for so long...

We made the decision this winter to (finally) buy a house, hoping that what we buy would have a space I could use to begin offering classes to my customers. We searched with the help of our Realtor, Mike Foster, who was able to outline what was available and give us an idea of what we'd be able to do with our resources. What we found went beyond our wildest dreams in size and comfort!

What's most pertinent to you is that I will have a space which I can devote entirely to creative arts, without having to kick my men out onto the street whenever I hold an event.

In the meantime, I'm concentrating on getting things ready for the big move sometime next month. Once the move is done and I'm settled in a bit, I will begin putting more posts up here in addition to offering monthly events in that new space. Stay tuned here and on my official Stampin' Up! site and store for more information starting sometime in May.

Cheers!

Preview of World Card Making Day Open House Samples

The countdown has been ticking and I'm trying my best to prepare as many samples as I can...despite my whole family having been sick this week and more. Okay, so I feel rather behind on things, but I can at least offer enough samples to make it worth your while to come visit me anyway. (And don't worry, we're all getting better thanks to antibiotics, so you won't catch anything!) Here's a preview of some more items you'll see Saturday or Tuesday:

This first card was made using the Patterned Pines stamp set...which you can only get if you host a workshop...and the message came from A Cardinal Christmas. I used Real Red and Kraft colored papers, and Real Red ink. The snowflake background was done with the second stamped image so it would look softer. To add a little interest, I punched out the message using the Scalloped Oval Punch and used the Wide Oval Punch for the background. This is a very fast, easy project!

This card has a Kraft card base and Dusty Durango and Crushed Curry layers. It was stamped using the For All You Do stamp set on a Naturals White paper. I used the "kissing" technique to get polka-dots on the butterfly and the "rock and roll" technique to get Crushed Curry edges on the flowers. Again, I punched out the message using the Scalloped Oval Punch and used the Wide Oval Punch for the background. The ribbon is Dusty Durango.

Made using the For All You Do stamp set and Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, and Crushed Curry solid colored papers. The patterned paper is from the Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series paper set. I rounded the corners with a Corner Rounder Punch.

This is a gift "box" for giving a set of 3x3 note cards in. It's made using Dusty Durango, Basic Black and Whisper White papers. The image comes from the For All You Do stamp set. The ribbon handles are Black Gingham. This gift box and a set of cards will be one of the door prizes offered at the Open House.

The final card for tonight's post is made using the Rich Razzleberry and Naturals White papers along with a small strip of patterned paper from the Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series paper pack. The stamp set used is Flight of the Butterfly, and the ribbon is Twill Tape stamped with a small flower from the same stamp set. Ink colors used are Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo.

Happy B-day Simply Scrappin' Kit

Below you will find several projects I made using only a Stampin' Up! Happy B-day Simply Scrappin' kit (some cards use additional cardstock in Whisper White). By the way, this Scrappin' kit only costs $19.95, and there is a LOT of paper still left over from my pack!

The first four projects below are called "Side-Step Cards" and were inspired by Julie Davison's blog: http://juliedavison.blogspot.com/
